BACHELOR OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE
The
Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree builds upon the strong
foundation provided by associate degree programs in Criminal
Justice. The program increases and complements the skills
already attained by persons working in a variety of positions
in law enforcement, corrections, probation, or other related
fields. Students must transfer in at
least 27-33 semester hours of Criminal Justice courses that
were taken in an associate degree program such as one taught
by South Carolina’s Technical Colleges. Upper
level courses in social and behavioral sciences, as well
as advanced courses in Criminal Justice, strengthen graduates’ ability
to relate to and interact with the people they serve.
The BCRJ degree consists of:
42 – 43 semester hours of General Education courses;
27 – 33 CRJ core courses from an associate degree program;
36 semester hour credits in the course major, including 21 credits in Criminal Justice, communications and social sciences and 15 semester hours of 300 level and above in criminal justice, psychology, sociology and political science;
12 General Elective credit hours. A maximum of 64 semester hours of credits may be transferred from an associate level degree program.
Note: A maximum of 64 semester hours of transfer credit
will be accepted from an institution where the highest degree
awarded is the associate degree. |
